Kids, Parents, and Grand Ridge Elementary

Posted by Larry Cragun No Comments »

Vibrant is how I would describe the daily scene around Grand Ridge Elementary School. Both Parents and children seem to have a great social life on school days.

A rule of writing a local and real estate blog is never go without your camera. Well, I broke the rule last week and missed a great opportunity.

Not the strollers above, but I missed a large circle of mothers, strollers, and babies circled about in wagon train style. It looked fun.

The school sign is often touting parent involvement and successes. It is one of the happy places we share in Issaquah Highlands.

One Of The Favorite Features Of Issaquah Highlands

Even those that live outside the Higlands bring their pooch to Bark Park. It is a popular place to let your dogs run. You still need your pooper scooper.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Posted by Kathleen Cragun

Issaquah Highlands has many great events for us to participate in. The biggest one of the year is coming up. It is sort of our 4th of July Celebration.  HIGHLANDS DAY! June 28th. It may seem far away but time flies and there is lots to be done.

I have been told it takes about 200 volunteers to put this all together. Have fun, get to know your neighbors and help at the same time.  There are carnival games, rides, food, a parade plus much more. Can you help? Contact christy.g@ihcouncil.org

There are also chances to promote your business. Business booths are available Contact Lorrie.t@ihcouncil.org.

Why Did Our Neighbors Move To Issaquah Highlands

Posted by Larry Cragun No Comments »

Why did you move to Issaquah Highlands? What are you looking for if you haven’t yet?

Last night I had the enjoyable experience of being on a panel at Blakely Hall. A small group of home owners had been invited to meet with a builders staff and their real estate broker. We spent two hours answering questions and surveys on why we moved to Issaquah Highlands and what we liked and didn’t like about our new homes.

I must say it was fun. I might also invite other builders to invite us. The PERK to us was a $100 gift certificate to SIP.

The group was a mix, young and old. We had purchased a different mix of homes. One couple had a new business here.

As we were each asked to name the 2 major reasons we moved to Issaquah Highlands I took notes.

I thought it would be informative to share with you the major reasons that were given.

1–-Easy access to other locations: Bellevue, Downtown Issaquah, i-90, and even downtown Seattle.

You might be interested one on the panel walks to work in downtown Issaquah. She was mean spirited by chiding us that didn’t. All of us. After all she said, “it is only 2 miles.” OK fine. BTW, it was all in fun.

2–The beautiful neighborhoods. Some said they just love walking around the Highlands. The walking paths, the parks, the nice looking homes. The friendliness of the area, the children, those walking their dogs was mentioned.

3– Having retail close by, the planned community concept. For sure we are anxious for the shopping center but things are shaping up. Have you been to World Pies or Le Chic Pet yet?

4– The views: not all of the homes have views but they are abundant as you drive around.

5– The children. This is a great place for children. It was part of the reason some moved here.

6– It is pro being social. It is easy to be involved with others here. There are events etc. but the sidewalks, parks, and gathering places make it easy to find friendships and acquaintances.

Why did you move here? What are you looking for if you haven’t yet? Let us know. Larry Cragun

I was struck by this public photo on Flickr by Tal… as I have been feasting on the Issaquah Highlands views these last two days. My next question is where is the beach Judd Kirk? You have certainly made a lot of things happen out of this once hillside and forest. We want a beach. Until then, thanks for the views. Larry

At Issaquah Highlands, Behind Every School Bus Are Kids And Parents

Posted by Larry Cragun 1 Comment »

What is the saying, behind every school bus is 100 kids. Here at the Highlands, the parents walk their kids to school, 100% of them join the PTA, and they are very involved. Its all part of a great community spirit. Children from outside the Highlands get to ride the bus.
