WSDOT Pond is Almost Done

Posted by Kathleen Cragun

You have probably noticed the big pond to your right as you drive up Park Dr across from the fire station. It is taking shape and there is a pleasant walking path completely around it. Workers are still there but expect to be done in a few weeks. Luxurious landscaping is getting the finishing touches. With all the beautiful sunset times we have had lately, we took advantage of one of those times to walk all around the pond.

We sat on one of the many benches and took some pictures:

Watched workers continue their duties, enjoyed nature and basked in the evening light.

Bufflehead ducks have already found the pond (you know, the ones who look like they have a panda suit on)! No doubt the Blue Herons, frogs (fish?) and others won’t be far behind.

When done WSDOT Pond is to have a waterfall flowing over the rocks and into the pond.  One of the things I love about Issaquah Highlands are those huge rocks we have in abundance.

The pond will also have lighting around it. Such a beautiful pond. The workers call it Sunset. Don’t you think it really needs a more fitting name than WSDOT?! The pond is a city project with Issaquah Highlands involved in part, such as landscaping.

Spring will be a welcome walk here.
