The Hub & Spokes Solution to Social Media Marketing for Business

February 8th, 2010

We began our network of blogs (two different ones) over 3 years ago. We first helped real estate agents market themselves. One of our agents went from $30,000 income in 2008 to $160,000 in 2009. He attributes it to his blog in our network and “The Hub And Spokes Solution”. We have recently started teaching the method to many businesses.

We are offering classes and individual help for social media marketing in our ”The Hub And Spokes Solution”   This is a basic simplified approach to social media marketing. It need not be overwhelming or ineffective. Learn how to have a plan, identify who to connect to, which media are the most inportant. You can’t do them all. You can learn to do it yourself or do it with help.

Julian Ramos, owner of Agave attended one of our social media workshops and was impressed with what we offer.  He has joined our network. Patrick Flynn, one of our key associates is coaching and assisting Julian while Julian runs his restaurant.

We will be posting more info with our schedule of classes in several different areas soon. In the meantime, visit Agave in Issaquah Highlands and enjoy some delicious mexican cuisine. Watch as Agave’s blog begins to take shape Click here for the new Agave Cuisine Undressed blog and look  for Agave on the many social media sites we place Agave on.

Issaquah Highlands Town Hall Meeting

February 5th, 2010
Posted by Kathleen Cragun Click Here To Comment »

On Feb 3, 2010 the meeting was standing room only at Blakely Hall as residents of Issaquah Highlands came to find out answers to their questions. The quest is strong to find out any new information.  Outreach to the community was a needed and welcome event.

It was evident that IH folks want to be heard and kept informed. Lead by Judd Kirk, Port Blakely senior vice president, a panel of participants, Rene’ Ancinas, Genni Reilly, and Chris Hysom took residents through a history of the events from the very beginning of IH. The changes through these 12 years have been many and as neccessary they had to respond to these changes. Kirk pointed out that they don’t control things the way people think. Microsoft changed their mind about many things, the freeway interchange was delayed and that affected what could be built, and many other things not under their control.  The latest challenge is, of course, the recession that has hit so hard.

Many very positive things are going on, like the Swedish Hospital under contruction, which will attract many other support groups. YWCA housing complex is beginning construction. The Proliance  Sports medicine clinic is operating, successful and a very positive addition to IH. There are plans to begin development at the south end of IH with a large apartment complex. Opus is still a partner in developing the area around the hospital.

Port Blakely has been criticized recently for not getting the proposed mall underway, with some even suggesting that IH shouldn’t build any more housing until that is done. That kind of penalty would not help. Kirk pointed out that new housing is a positive as more density is important to attracting stores, tenants, restaurants, businesses.

Judd Kirk believes that getting a grocery store is a paramount issue, we would definitely agree. Plans are in the works to make that happen but much cannot be announced until it is a sure thing. Many of us were disappointed when Central Market decided not to procede. Port Blakely is also working on partnering with a new developer to assist in the commercial areas.

Kirk wants to have more robust interaction with the residents and the community, and in keeping with that theme, opened up the meeting for people to come to the front and ask questions or make suggestions. The meeting went on much longer than planned. Vicki Stier discussed ways to keep us informed, from surveys, to videos each month, and neighborhood captain meetings and more meeting like this.  Volunteers from IH are very much appreciated and needed. Your input is always welcome, “send us your rumors” was voiced!

Many residents had suggestions: skate board park, swimming pool, farmers market, roads, gas station, and of course the mall. It will come but will be gradual.

It has been said that the residents of Issaquah Highlands are wonderful. Issaquah Highlands is not perfect, but it is still wonderful!

You can help, you can get involved. And don’t forget IH has 2 websites www.issaquahhighlands.com and www.ihwebsite.com . And of course, THIS BLOG!

Issaquah Firemens Quick Response

January 13th, 2010

Starpoint residents were jolted early this morning when the fire alarms in the building went off. The alarms are LOUD.  Those who hadn’t already gone to work, worked their way down the stairs in various stages of early morning aparel and appearance. No one reported smelling any smoke, but ear drums were suffering and cats and dogs were not too happy either. The firetrucks arrived very quickly, considering they had to fight their way through school buses and morning commuter traffic. ( Maybe they can testify that we do have a twice a day traffic problem, after all)!

All ended well, there wasn’t a fire, evidently some construction work set off one of the sprinklers, and in turn the building’s alarms went off.  We are thankful for the Issaquah Fire Departments attention and expertise, and thankful we didn’t really have a fire.

Advice For Those Moving To Issaquah Highlands

January 11th, 2010

Issaquah is divided into two areas, the Highlands and the Lowlands. The lowlands are made up of neighborhoods like South Cove, Mirromont, Downtown, olde town, Tibbetts Creek, etc. Some of the highlands face west or are deep in the trees and miss the afternoon sun: Montreux, Talus, Squak Mountain.

But the Issaquah Highlands residents have a different problem, “the sun”. High above the clouds and basking in the warm afternoon sun, the highland folks have to deal with 365 days of sun. Even those rare snow days create Utah like sun ray reflections that they must be prepared for.

We encourage  highlands residents to shop the new Issaquah Highlands Central Market that has plenty of Ponds Extract in stock. It will protect your skin and make your life here in the highlands a better one.

What Attracts People To Issaaquah Highlands

January 5th, 2010

What are the top reasons people move to Issaquah Highlands. Here are a few. Add yours as a comment if you would like.

1- We moved here 12 years ago loving the idea of a planned community.

2- What is now Highlands Fiber Network appealed to us.

3- The shopping Center, especially a grocery store. When we moved here there was no Fred Meyer shopping center. We didn’t have the Park Drive entrance either, came up Black Nugget.

4- The architecture.

5- We worked in Bellevue, and counted on getting our own freeway entrance. It happened.

7- The diversity in home prices appealed to us.

8- We don’t have kids at home now, but wanted to make sure there was a good elementary school. Whew, we almost got a middle school.

9- Views. Even when we didn’t have one (3 homes ago) we would drive to the top and watch the fireworks and the skyline.

10- Issaquah. Even if you don’t move to the highlands move to Issaquah. We love Issaquah. If you are considering it you will too. There are so many things we discovered when we moved here and so many more we have learned about after starting this blog.
